MAKAHALAU STATION, PARKER RANCH
"Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii as seen from Wahinekea Corral at Makahalau. This area is part of the Mana division of Parker Ranch. During the 1920s and 1930s, Makahalau was the headdquarters for Parker Ranch. At that time, the Ranch had the largest purebred Hereford operation in the world.
Waimea, Hawaii, has always rejuvenated me like a giant vitamin pill. It is so expansive and filled with fresh air and energy. This painting captures that amazing landscape. The original painting hangs at Parker Ranch in their board room."

- Betty Hay Freeland
